What do you want to know? It’s the best of the best with R-Value. It’s small, light, and warm. Get it if you want the best of all situations. The crinkly sound I can live with (though I hear it tones down after some use). The material and build is top of the line. The comfort level is something I dont like. I mean, it’s OK..but its not sleeping on a bed. In a pinch I would use this on its own , but if im not needing to backpack to a site then I would for sure bring another pad for comfort sake. Though hiking, yea, good..Great! For regular car camping, no good, not great. Bring another pad to accommodate your sleep system if you can.I am in love with this air mattress.I have owned and backpacked with quite a few different brands and models of lightweight sleeping pads before, but it was finally time to "go big or go home". I'm a larger framed guy, so comfort is something important to me that not many backpacking sleeping pads can provide. At 6'1" and 235 lbs, a thinner pad just won't cut it. I sleep in various positions, so being able to side sleep and even stomach sleep are very important to me.I tried the lightest closed-cell foam pads (Z-Lite Sol to start), and it was extremely lightweight but just not enough cushion to get a full night's sleep. I could stay comfortable for maybe 1 hour on a pad like that, and then the sore spots started to show their ugly heads. In trying to keep weight at or below a pound for lightweight backpacking, I used pads such as the Klymit Static V which rolls up very small and is a rugged pad for its weight and low cost. It did the job, but I woke up frequently throughout the night to re-adjust my sore spots. In addition, I knew the R-value was going to be a very critical issue since I sleep with a down quilt and not a traditional sleeping bag. Having that insulation beneath me where the quilt doesn't provide coverage is necessary. With the very high R-value with this pad, I know I can trust it as a 3 season pad. I knew it was time to spend some real $$ and get a pad that I knew was built for me. So I ordered this pad.I chose the large size in the MAX rectangular configuration. I knew I was adding a solid 8 oz to my current sleep setup, but maybe the weight really was worth the comfort. I was going with a lighter tent this year, so the weight I cut from the tent went towards a more comfortable night's sleep on this pad. When I received this pad, I immediately opened it up to test it out. I used the included inflation sack to pump it up in about 10 fills of air. I do already carry the Big Agnes Pumphouse stuff sack, so I'll be using that instead of the included inflation bag that came with this pad because the Pumphouse is lighter and also doubles as my clothes dry bag. That will save an ounce or two. This pad is HUGE... fitting my entire frame easily. My feet were still on the foot of the pad while I was able to tuck my arm under my head and keep it also on the pad. Great fit! The width is excellent for me, as I can lay on my back and my arms don't fall off of this pad. And I have broad shoulders. I laid on this pad on my back, side, and stomach and I was VERY satisfied with the support. The next thing I immediately noticed was how much body heat this pad was throwing back at me! In my living room it was very warm to lay on - far warmer than any of my other pads. After testing, it was time to deflate it and see how easy it was to roll up and stow. Unlike some other pads I've owned, it deflated very slow on its own with the valve left open. So, I had to start rolling it from the foot end to squeeze out most of the air so I could fold it and begin rolling it up. Not a big deal, but I do like a pad that I can open the valve in the morning and let it deflate while I do other camp chores. This one goes down very slowly unless you help it along with some body weight. I spent exactly 3 minutes fully deflating, folding in 3rds, and rolling this pad back up to its packaged size (actually slightly smaller because I really pressed every last bit of air out of it. It fit great back in the provided stuff sack, with some room to spare.Pros:- Highest R value you can find at this weight - a true 4 season pad- Wider and longer for us larger campers- Comes with a bag that fits over the valve for easy pump inflation- Material feels thicker and more durable than other lightweight inflatable pads- Plenty of loft for side and stomach sleepersCons:- It's not the lightest on the market, but it's a decent weight for its size and durability- The valve sticks funny out of the corner of the pad, and also is hard to tuck flat when putting back into the stuff sack (observation, not complaint)- It doesn't pack down to the "Nalgene size" that other pads do, but considering its size and warmth, is a fair compromise- Some reviews say it's noisy (the baffles inside of the pad do make a crinkly sound) but it didn't bother me at all. May bother a tent mate.Everything went fine, once I understood the directions.I own two thermarest pads the thermarest xtreme max and topo luxe. My 9 yr old son was able to inflate the pad himself using the air pump sack. I gave it 4 stars for easy to inflate because the attachment for the pump tends to pop off. This can be avoided by making the sure the air pump sack is properly positioned (straight up) if it is angled it is most likely to pump off. I personally do not sleep well when backpacking. If the pad is under inflated it is relatively comfortable, as in not as comfortable as a mattress but far more comfortable than the ground which is kind of the point of air pads. I did find that if the pad was fully inflated to achieve maximum R value my shoulders did fall asleep. I had no issues with the noise level of the pad and I am an ultralight sleeper. Overall value for the the R value and weight for this pad is excellent and I would buy it again when on sale. Initial purchase the pad was on sale.I've slept on the snow in negative ten degrees fahrenheit with this thing and was quite comfortable...even with just a zero degree bag. A good pad is a necessity for cold weather camping, this has a very high R value and could easily be used in temperatures colder than I tested it in I believe. Only reason I haven't tested it in colder weather is because I haven't had the opportunity quite yet, but I'm looking forward to the day that the weather cooperates and allows for that opportunity. It's comfort from cold is great, but comfort as far as like a bed it fails. However, I was not looking for anything soft and cuddly when I bought this, I was looking for something to keep me alive in extreme weather, and this obviously accomplished that as I'm here typing this today. The mattress is crinkly and noisy to sleep on due to the insulation inside, but that's easily mitigated with ear plugs or headphones if you need. I don't find that it is that big of an issue though, but it takes alot to disrupt my sleep.Bought this camp mat to replace my cheap decathlon one that had a puncture I couldn't find.First impressions are that it is very compact, easy to pack away and fairly easy to inflate. The inflation bag is a nice / novel idea that seems fairly easy to use, though it does take longer to inflate than if you were just blowing into it, it does mean that you aren't out of breath once you've finished inflating it. It also, conceivably, reduces the amount of moisture within, which increases the thermal performance. It is very comfortable; I can lie sideways without my shoulder touching the ground. It's also nowhere near as loud as I had heard (this was a concern when I bought it). It didn't disturb me at all, and I'm a very light sleeper. The patch kit seems of good quality and the lifetime manufacturers warranty gives me a bit of comfort.Loss of one star is only due to the cost - seems like a get what you pay for type deal, but still on the pricey side for what you get. That being said, I would still buy this again.Great for colder months and climates. Im 6'2" so needed the large and wide. Its not the lightest or smallest but when you need something that is the WARMEST, then this is your ticket. Its true, it is a little crunchy sound wise, but its not that offensive. I almost didn't buy it because of the review of the noise but I dont believe it live sup to the hype that alot of people complain about.I usually pack it flat at the bottom of my pack, rather than rolled up.I've had a number of these and this one is by far the best. Admittedly it is about 3x the price of the others.I find it hard to sleep out of a comfy bed but in a test managed to sleep perfectly on this, in a tent on a grass surface. The inflation valve also works really well. Totally unlike the useless thing used on the others.Packs down small and light. Reflects your body warmth back to you. Expensive, but I need my sleep after hiking all day and this mat contributes to a warm and comfy night. Excellent sleep mat.Bought as a present. The recipient tried it and said it was incredibly warm. Folds down into a small space. great for backpacking/motorcycle camping.
